New 30mph speed limit in forceVisitors and locals may have noticed that there have been several changes to speed limits around the town and new signage has appeared in the last week.

New 30mph limits are now in force on Bourton Road and the section of Stratford Road from Page Hill Avenue near Buckingham Athletic Football Club to the roundabout junction with the A413/A422. Both these roads previously had 40mph limits. Additionally, sections of the A413 and A421 ring road have had their limit reduced from national speed to 40mph.

The new limits make good sense from a safety viewpoint and will make it easier for drivers to join the ring road when turning on from the housing estates, so we welcome them. However, drivers who are familiar with the previous limits are already being caught out by the new ones so need to keep their eyes open and take note of where the changes have been made.

UPDATE: It's already been reported in the local press that the police are enforcing the new speed limits so drivers need to be sure they know where the limit changes affect.
