Peter Thorogood from Buckingham has recently been appointed as the county's High Sheriff. It's the first time in 24 years that someone from this town has held the office.

The role is largely ceremonial with duties including attending royal visits and representing the Sovereign in matters of law. Peter, 68, was reported as saying, "You receive no award, but it is a privilege. It is a chance to pay back Buckinghamshire which has been very generous to me."

We wish him the best of luck.
